Wim Buyens is the CEO and visionary behind Cinema Coach, a forward-thinking consultancy dedicated to discovering and scaling the next big innovations in cinema. Prior to founding Cinema Coach, Wim held the position of CEO at Cinionic, the global cinema joint venture between Barco, Appotronics, and CGS. At Cinionic, Wim was instrumental in driving innovation, particularly in the widespread adoption of laser projection, gaining 60% global market share, establishing it as the industry standard. His leadership solidified Cinionic’s role as a leader in cinema technology, setting new benchmarks for the viewing experience and expanding its reach to global audiences.
Wim’s career began in IT and CAD/CAM, and he went on to hold global leadership roles, including his tenure at Brüel & Kjær and later at Barco, where he led the Entertainment Division. His years at Barco saw the division become the global leader in cinema projection, where he directed strategic growth initiatives, mergers, and acquisitions that doubled the division’s annual revenue to over $500 million.

Wim’s contributions extend beyond Cinema Coach; he has served on several boards, including as Chairman of the Advanced Imaging Society in 2017, where he advocated for advancements in HDR, 3D, and immersive technologies. Educated at Stanford University and Lausanne University, Wim remains an active figure in industry events and continues to push the boundaries of innovation in cinema.
