About me
Nick is an experienced animation and visual effects studio leader recently appointed to the new role of SVP of Production and Technology at Walt Disney Animation Studios, having previously served as Chief Technology Officer since 2016. He's passionate about fostering creativity through technology and currently leads production, post production, and technology for the studio, overseeing everything from planning and workflow to innovation and strategy. His credits at the studio include "Moana," "Frozen 2," "Encanto," and "Wish."
Prior to Disney, Nick spent 13 years leading technology for visual effects on over 100 feature films, contributing his expertise to projects ranging from "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" to "The Jungle Book." This deep experience in visual effects informs his approach to animation, where he champions a people-first approach to technology-driven change, always in service of the story.
As an engaged member of the visual effects community, Nick currently serves as Chair of the Visual Effects Society Technology Committee. He also co-founded the VFX Reference Platform, an initiative focused on improving software compatibility across the industry. Nick's commitment to collaboration and innovation stems from his early career, where he helped organizations across various industries navigate digital transformation. He holds a Computer Science degree from Royal Holloway, University of London, and currently resides in Pasadena, California.
